The Message

What is repentance?

The Bible tells us that God now commands all men everywhere to repent (Acts 17:30). So, as a command of God it is something we must do to please Him. So what is repentance?

Literally, it means to change your mind about something. In particular God wants us to change our mind about our sin and our view of God. Humanity, in general, tends to reject God's authority as the Creator and try to please themselves and appease God in their own way. God requires this attitude to change in every individual - God requires repentance.

Repenting of sin means giving up those things that displease God and living a life in obedience to Him. Many have found the pleasures of sin too great to give up for God. But the cost of not repenting is far, far greater.

Changing our attitude to God is necessary too. Many still think that they can get to God their own way. But a change of attitude will acknowledge that Jesus is the only way to God and the only way that God requires.

Repentance is changing direction!
