What is everlasting life?

The only certainty in life is that one day we will die! The Bible makes it clear that it is our sin that causes this, for the wages of sin is death (Romans 3:23). However, this not just physical death. Sin separates us from a perfect God, and so everlasting death condemns us to separation from God forever.

So, in contrast, everlasting life is living forever in God's presence in heaven. What we will do, or what it will be like, God has never fully revealed. The Bible just makes it clear that there will be no sadness or pain.

Jesus said, "I have come that they [humanity] might have life, and that they may have it more abundantly" (John 10:10). The only way to have everlasting life is to believe in the Lord Jesus. He suffered death, that we need not suffer everlasting death.
