Why forgiveness?
Forgiveness is being pardoned for wrong that you have done. True forgiveness can only come from the one who has been wronged and it must be their voluntary act - no-one can be made to forgive - it is an act from the heart.
We have all sinned and the one who has been wronged is God. God, because of His holiness, cannot overlook such offences. He longed to bestow His forgiveness on men but theysinned all the more - they did not want to be forgiven - they wanted to enjoy their sin.
But God did not give up; He sent His Son Jesus who died on the cross. Jesus dealt with the punishment for sin which meant that forgiveness was available to any who asked Him for it. The Bible says that through Jesus is preached the forgiveness of sins and by Him everyone who believes is made right with God (Acts 13:38-39).
If there is no forgiveness then you will feel the guilt of what you have done wrong. God wants you to be free from this guilt and know His forgiveness.
